Jennifer Christophel has professionally instructed and taught Pilates, Fitness and Dance for over 22 years. She is the founder and director of The Balanced Body Studio and Wellness Center, LLC, located in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland and Rockville, MD. She is a Nationally Certified Pilates Certified Teacher, a Master Pilates Teacher Trainer for Balanced Body Educators and a Professional Presenter for Pilates on Tour.
Along with a degree in exercise science/kinesiology, Jennifer carries Pilates Teaching Certificates from the nationally recognized programs of Core Dynamics Pilates, under the tutelage of Michele Larsson, STOTT Pilates, PHI and Pilates for Golf. She also has several other professional, certifications through ISSA as an Exercise Therapist, a Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a Functional Aging Specialist through FAI and a Cancer Exercise Specialist through CETI, to name a few.
One of Jennifer's many passions is to integrate her love for exercise science and therapies with functional movement and has accreditations as Stecco method of Fascial Manipulation Practitioner, a Functional Movement Techniques Specialist, A Level 2 Functional Movement Screening Specialist, Kinesiology Taping Practitioner, Rock Tape Cupping Practitioner, Rock Tape IASTM Practiitioner, a Trigger Point Therapy Practitioner, a Level 2 Nuerokinetic Therapy Practitioner and a Full Body Muscle Activation Techniques Specialist. Jennifer is a licensed massage therapist in MD, PA, VA and D.C, and is currently in school again to acquire a Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Therapy.
Along with owning two, successful studios, all these accreditations have also allowed Jennifer the opportunity to work in a rehabilitative setting with special populations at Restore Motion Physical Therapy in Rockville, MD, as an Integrative Movement Specialist since 2014, where she works hand in hand with a group of 7 Physical Therapists using her many modalities, specifically pilates, as part of their patients' therapy. She has extensive experience working with patients with disc pathologies, stenosis, degenerative disc diseases, pelvic floor dysfunction, sacroiliac dysfunction, scoliosis, osteoporosis, joint replacements, cancers, hyper-mobility, EDS, dysautonomia, fibromyalgia and arthritis.
Jennifer also carries many other group, fitness certifications including PiYo, Yoga, Barre, Zumba, LaBlast and TRX as well as being a Certified Nutritionist and professional ballroom teacher and competitor.
