Jennifer Christophel

Founder and Owner

Jennifer Christophel has professionally instructed and taught Pilates, Fitness and Dance for over 20 years. She is the founder and director of The Balanced Body Studio and Wellness Center, LLC, located in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. She is Comprehensively Certified and a Nationally PMA Pilates Certified Teacher. She carries Pilates Teaching Certificates from the nationally recognized programs of Core Dynamics Pilates, under the tutelage of Michele Larsson, STOTT Pilates, PHI and Pilates for Golf, with accreditations through ISSA as Certified Exercise Therapist and as a Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Jennifer is qualified to work in a sports medicine capacity as an AFPA Certified Sports Conditioning Specialist and is a Cancer Training Specialist and Master Trainer for the Cancer Exercise Training Institute.

She is a Master Pilates Teacher Trainer and Professional Presenter for Balanced Body Educators and carries many other fitness certifications including PiYo, Yoga, Barre, Zumba, LaBlast and TRX as well as being a Certified Herbalist/Wellness Consultant.

One of Jennifer's many passions is to integrate her love for exercise science/therapy and Pilates with fascial release work and has studied and trained in the Stecco method of Fascial Manipulation ( Graduate of Level 1a and 1b ) under Dr. Antoio Stecco, Fascial Fitness with Dr. Robert Shleip and in Chaitow Postural Release Techniques. Jennifer also has a Fellowship Certificate in Clinical Kinesiology Taping through the London Academy of Health Sciences and Certification in Fascial Movement Taping through Rock Tape.

Theses accreditations have allowed Jennifer the opportunity to work in a rehabilitative setting with special populations at Restore Motion Physical Therapy in Rockville, MD, as Senior Exercise Therapist and Programing Director where she works hand in hand with a group of 7 PT's and doctors using Pilates as part of their patients' therapy. She has extensive experience working with patients with disc pathologies, stenosis, degenerative disc diseases, pelvic floor dysfunction, sacroiliac dysfunction, scoliosis, osteoporosis, joint replacements, cancer patients, hyper-mobility, EDS, fibromyalgia and arthritis, to name a few.

Jennifer's background also includes extensive training teaching experience in ballet and ballroom dancing. She is a NDCA registered Professional Ballroom Teacher and Competitor, is the head of the juniors ballroom program at Avant Garde Ballroom Dance Center in Rockville, MD, and is an adjunct professor in the Dance Department of Frostburg State University where she teaches Dance Appreciation.
